The past week and half I've been busy setting up our inventory system. Inventory Pro was a challenge to start with, but after a while I think I have the hang of it now. For now the inventory is quite basic, but I have some items we can pick up and currency which will be used in our item shops in order to purchase equipment!
I've also added the pause menu functionality to quit to the desktop. We have other options to navigate scenes for demos and testing as well so we don't have to fully navigate the world as it's quite large.
I wanted a way for the items themselves to be in the world AND stand out as visible objects, so I added particle effects swirling around the object to indicate they were not just scenery.
I need to flesh out the system a bit more, but with this inventory system, the player can pick up items in the world and soon we should be able to get some more going for the player inventory with selling and equipping items! As we prepare for our showcase day we really are getting to wrapping up the semester's work.
