Forgotten Blog Post

It's been some time! With a new semester comes new goals and challenges. This semester so far, I have added new areas to the Overworld and re-worked the grapple hook. Luke has thankfully helped with the hook as well, and we have it in a much better place than it was before.

The new grapple hook uses a Euler based physics, and works much better than simply pulling the player towards the grapple point. We still have more work on it, but it's getting there.

Below is a preview of an icy area, leading to the second dungeon. I began working on this area, which has dangerous icy water.

Unfortunately, I am going to put this area on hold as I focus on making the rest of the game more interesting by giving the player goals and objectives to do in our current area. By redoing the inventory system we can give the player goals for finding hidden areas and doing quests. Right now, our Overworld has no real content besides running. That doesn't quite make for a very fun game. We need quests and treasures to find. So my next goal is to rework the inventory and begin quest/objective content generation, as well as working on the cinematic.
